What does "push out 15 mm" mean?

You're sharp: the tube is a little too short, so move the slide further out — about that far. "Pull in" means you're flat. "Hold it" means you're within 3 cents. Distances are approximate; the direction is what matters most.

It shows the wrong position.

Many notes can be played in more than one position. Tap the position you're actually using under "Also:" — the app remembers your choice for that note.

"Flat in 1st" — what do I do?

The slide can't go shorter than 1st position. Lip the note up, use an alternate position (D4 in 4th, for example), or push your main tuning slide in a little with the Tune-Up.

Why does it say the 5th partial is flat?

Notes on the 5th partial (like D4 in 1st) naturally sit about 14 cents flat on every trombone — it's physics, not you.

F attachment

In Settings → Trombone, choose "Tenor with F attachment". Trigger positions (T1, T2…) appear in the Coach and the chart — for example C3 in T1 instead of 6th. F-side positions are longer, so the distances are bigger.

Tune-Up

Choose B♭3 or F3, play it in 1st position and hold it for a couple of seconds. The app tells you how far to move the main tuning slide. With an F attachment, the second step tunes the attachment slide on F3 with the trigger.

Drone

With headphones, the tuner keeps listening while the drone plays. Through the speaker, the tuner would hear the drone instead of you, so the app switches to ear-training: match the drone until the "beats" disappear.

Readings jump around

Hold the phone 30–100 cm from the bell, away from other instruments. In a full band room, a clip-on microphone helps.
